General account of Neve's wealth compiled by Corbalan including liquid assets, salaries, and account of Neve's expenses owned to various individuals; salary of Neve with deductions for Monte Pio, Invalidos, Media anata, and conduccion a Espana. Account of transport costs for goods bought from Neve's estate (receipt of muleteer). Account of Neve's expenses, costs of food items and household goods bought and services provided (carpentry, transportation, laundry); Series of receipts of money paid out by Neve's executors and funds deposited in Rosario treasury. Neve's widow prohibited from receiving the sum of inheritance Neve indicated in his will. List of gun powder and household goods for sale left at Neve's hacienda by Croix. Dongo and Corbalan correspond regarding freeing Neve's funds to pay Neve's debts, including debt to late doctor sales. Medina's letter introduces inventories and auction sales of Neve's belongings. Autos by Galindo Navarro regarding Neve's executors and funds they administered. Corbalan relates to virrey that he has paid the heirs of Neve's doctor and describes transactions of Neve's wealth liquidated through auction; virrey(?) Acknowledges receipt of letter. Galindo Navarro in auto describes death of Neve and his duties to make an inventory of Neve's belongings, put his papers in order, identify corpse, and gather keys. Copy of Neve's will (ff. 145-159). Autos and diligencias referring to choice of executors of Neve's will, Neve's keys, and papers, requests in will concerning belongings, making inventories, choice of accountants and expert assessors of Neve's belongings, as well as description of religious sacraments given to his corpse. Summary
Orders from viceroy to Anza about recruitment of soldiers with families to move to and settle San Francisco California, appointments of lieutenant and Sergeant to be in command of garrison. Also appointment of friars to accompany expedition with cooperation of fray Serra establish two missions in area settled. de Anza travels to Sinaloa and established towns in Sonora recruiting families and purchasing supplies, cattle, horses and mules for March with orders to leave as soon as possible carrying enough supplies to leave with settlers until area is established. Viceroy orders de Anza to turn command of expedition in Monterrey to Moncada who will command presidio in San Francisco, also is ordered to select with Moncada site for presidio and missions to be established and return to Sonora as soon as task accomplished. de Anza informs viceroy of progress made in recruitment impossibility of Alferez Morada to go with expedition as wife has terminal disease, also notifies viceroy of death of sargent Espinosa to unknown epidemic which has affected many families recruited slowing progress many months. de Anza request substitution of sargent from O'Conor military inspector and general commander. List of soldiers with families is sent to viceroy amounting to 191 persons not counting muleskinners, people attached to expedition like merchants, farmers who are not being paid by de Anza who is supplying them with food only, also three families whose husbands are attached to presidio of Monterrey. Anza expedition starts from Tubac on October 20, Ten months after viceroy issued orders which Anza argues is best time due to rains which will provide water and better pasture for animals. Attached are letters from fray Garces who is reluctant to go with expedition wanting instead to establish missions in upper Colorado and Gila rivers, viceroy issues him orders to join expedition under de Anza which he agrees with reluctance requesting his own special assistants and his own transportation. Francisco Xavier Goni purchased ship (San Judas Fadeo) in the canaries and sailed for Havanna then Ostiones with load and passengers. After leaving Havana ship sank. Only few crew lived and told what happened. Documents verify discovery of wreckage parts and auction of same. Ff.131 appears to quote laws concerning finding of unclaimed objects. Ship's Matricula, ff. 155-156. Wages paid for unearthing of wreck, ff.111-114. Possible document of boat purchase by Goni, ff.162-163. Steal some of the wreckage from beach and were killed. Request made for money for Goni's widow, Maria Hernandez Goni. Ff.204 contains verification of the Goni's marriage, names their parents. (S. Langmack September 1989)
