Contains autos and reports by Escandon and others discussing possible difficulties of establishing Sotolamarina. says original purpose was to establish new Paraje for growing population and to pacify Indians. Were given two Religiosos and 10,000 pesos but after one year in a location without having planted any crops, lack of food, water, cattle and horses has resulted in several deaths. Describes several reasons why they were unable to sustain themselves. Documents discuss whether they should continue to bedova or establish in closer location along River. Gives geographic location of several possible Villas along Nueces. Ciprian says they should avoid impending problems at Bedoya and locate elsewhere since difficulty and cost of north River unreasonable. Escandon stops group in Santander where they report conditions. Decided that 50 families and Escuadra will establish Sotolamarina. Description of area including climate, pastures, fertile lands and abundancy of salt and fish. Escandon allocates money for construction of homes and other town buildings and says will provide sufficient corn seed. Includes town plan, rivers in area and exact coordinates of Sotolamarina. (M. Mentions possible Indian threat. says would need more people and soldiers. Indian captain from Tamaulipa arrives with peace request. Escandon grants request. Document does not contain name of Indian group. Discussion of proper location for settlement of these Indians. Contains list of families, names, ages and property. Similar list for squad. Summary
Zamora asks for relocation of presidio because irrigation problems. Complaints that protection hasn't been enough. Lack of water in the presidio area is to blame for delay in land distribution for new inhabitants. Commander of presidio of Sacramento wants to leave the presidio where it is, claims Indian problem is solved with many Indians giving up to the Spaniards; he also reports on military expenditures. Summary
Salazar's account of Garza Falcon's successful campaign against rebel Indians in Coahuila. Gives account of pursuit, battle and subsequent peace made with renegades. Following is Garza Falcon's letter to viceroy explaining terms of peace imposed on Indians. Also, viceroy's request that letter of thanks be sent to governor for a well-executed expedition. (J. H. Summary
Several letters from the capitans of the villages informing Escandon of the losses. Almost all the villages lost their crops. Several letters from Escandon to virrey informing him of the reconstruction of the villages and needed supplies. Altamira approves Escandon's requests and the information is passed on to virrey for final approval. Escandon writes to the virrey of the struggles they are having with the Apostata Guardado. A uracan is reported in July 17, 1751. Escandon requests supplies by ship from Veracruz to Tampico; Escandon reports to virrey that the Guardado and other Indians have been eliminated. The last letter of Escandon is dated March 1, 1760 and mentions the possibility of creating an Obispado for Nuevo Santander. In folio 56 avitadores naturales de las mismas fronteras hacen Sus siembras y Cosechas de maizes, frigol, Calabazas y Sandias en abundancia. (D. Bautista, April 1990)

Summary
Two letters from Escandon to virrey informing him of the destruction caused by the rain and requesting 12,000 pesos to buy 3,500 fanegas de maiz to cover the needs of the population. The other letter is to inform him of the progess of the new colony, the pacification of Indians, the establishment of missions, and the discovery of mines. The letters that Escandon is sending the virrey are analized by marques de Altamira and he gives suggestions to virrey. Escandon gives an order to stop a rebel Indian, apostata guardado. (D.
