Folios 334-336 from Fages to Bucareli concerns question of distribution of land and furnishing of cattle to settlers who marry Indian women converts in Monterrey jurisdiction. Remaining supplies and cattle for Lower California missions and presidios; of necessary personnel, food, cattle and arms for their defense; advises of shipments and receipts of items to same by paquebots San Carlos, el Principe and San Antonio. 2) ff. 341-344 are 1770 instrucciones from Croix to the Cabo of the Escolta de la mision in 16 capitulos including regulations for distribution of weapons, defensive measures to be taken, treatment and punishment of Indians, care of horses and cattle, food supplies and rations, relations with missionaries and Gentiles, punishments for contraband and illicit sexual relations with Indians. Ff. 79-82 concern response of Gutierrez to Barri's request for submitting his past accounts for audit. Former cannot locate them and informed that until accuracy verified he must provide security bond. Viceroy determines that one-half of Gutierrez' requests necessary supplies for warehouse in department, including weapons, clothes, sewing materials. Ugalde gives Vidal de Lorca responsibility for use of troops, villagers in maintaining peace in province. Series of Indian attacks begins after attack by Tanambres. Vidal de Lorca gives deaths, injury statistics; states Tanambres have returned to mission at Lleres. He highlights some of murgiers' expedition in Sierra de Tamaulipa, that Pasitas and Zaraquayes have sent Capitancillos to ratify peace. In return for cease to hostilities, Vidal de Lorca grants food supplies to Indians, at expense of Guemes mission. Discusses establishment of piquete Volante to monitor activities of Indians that have returned to missions and settlements, as villagers know which Indians have committed last Series of crimes.
