Rengel notifies real audencia gobernadora of receipt of various documents not present including copies of edict to plant flax and hemp; notification of debt of salary to Garibay; provisional resolutions for provinces; notification of Callis's illness. Receives from real audencia notification of medical donations to Hospital real de indios; funding for mission in Texas; request that Rengel send certain amounts of armaments to Leon and Santander. A group of Apaches de Paz under chief Chiquito rebel near Bacoachi. Loyal groups aid Spaniards in punishing them. These three letters tell also of campaigns in Sonora and near El Paso using Indian auxiliaries. There is information on chiefs, rancherias and a very interesting description of some rebel Apache medicine men performing ceremonies from a leather bag full of dolls and idols made of feathers.
