Describes 3 years of hardships for troops. Describes rebel outrages in general terms. States old Indians often most rebellious. Claims old Piato sabatoged peace between Piatos, Spaniards. Discusses change in strategy from large troop movements, assaults on Cerro Prieto to small mobile detachments and guerrilla warfare. Notes rebel chiefs killed- Chepillo, Naspre, Thomas- and effects on rebels. When campaign started more than 600 rebels. now very few (number lost in gutter). 43 rebels left- very hard to exterminate them. Best to leave them in hiding.
