Abalos accuses Olasaran of viciousness, treason, imperiosity, among other things. Olasaran accuses Abalos of calumny, being an imposter (Abalos claims his Father is C. Abalos; Sanchez claims C. Abalos had no son). Frequently mentioned that Abalos is mestizo. Many letters from character witnesses protesting for/against each party. Inserted in middle of these is Series of letters concerning death of Guzman (f.262-265), in which Abalos is apparently implicated. Buena is widow of Guzman. Very interesting record of investigation into death of Yxart, gobernador de Nuevo Santander, April 18. Alva is placed in charge of inquiry into suicide. letter from Caleja suggesting perhaps miscreant from volante killed him, created appearance of suicide for revenge. Transcription of questioning of soldiers, blacksmith interspersed throughout. Testimony by reputable sources of deceased's character, recent actions, events surrounding discovery of corpse. Long letter from moquira speculating on circumstances that may shoe, stabbed with knife; all doors to room closed. F.95 is detailed floorplan of governor's Palace with drawing of scene inconclusive evidence for foulplay; no prosecution undertaken. Yxart given ecclesiastic burial anyway. (A. Dean, July 1989)

F.263 begins Series documenting apprehension of about 30-35 Indians (names, pueblos given), interrogation through interpreters Cruz (Cora Alias Naiarit, Mexicano, castellana) and Martinez (Mexicana). Perez informs viceroy of lack of protection by soldiers from Terrenate of missions, towns and missionaries in Imuris following burning and sacking of Magdalena and Saric by Piatos, Seris and Apaches, fray Perez requests protection by viceroy. (A. Dell'acqua, January 1988)

Correspondence between viceroy and capitan Azuela concerning running away of Seris and Tiburon families while governor goes on expedition against Apaches, Azuela using help of some Seris and Tiburones request such families to come back to settlement. Azuela also relates death in prison of Indian who killed a priest. Azuela indicates based on orders to advise a Superior in his Jurisdiccion of all events while governor is absent complying with orders he advises de Anza. (A. Dell'acqua, January 1988)
