Warns Perez Tarahumaras must be missionized quickly despite obstacles because of unrest caused by entrance into Sierra band of Tepehuan rebels led by Don Felipe Cacique de Lope, threatening missionaries, especially fr. Suarez at mission Sape. Notes unrest among Tepehuanes caused by Don Pedro, Brother Felipe, a sorcerer. Describes fantastic acts power, death of Don Pedro. Notes Indian complaints against fr. Suarez made before governor in Parral, including theft Indian land, mistreatment. Complaint attacked on grounds that plenty vacant fertile land existed around Sape, that Indians suffered from hunger because they left land fallow to murder, commit idolatries, that mission rations corn only food available at times. Trusts god will reveal truth to governor concerning matter. Mentions campaign faithful Indians against rebels. (T. Sheridan) (1976)
