Includes introductions to monthly reports on developments and conditions of company. Capellan transfers to Voca de Leones. Description of campaigns, number of horses and men sent and returned. Tells Castro that conde requested he go to Santander to perform certain duties. Sent 4 men to Bahia. Gives awards to several soldiers. says no one on mission to Texas spoke Lipan. Returns horse lost by Serna during round- up. Informed of Indians who stole clothes and horses of several men going to slaughter. Requests replacements from commander of Punta for five soldiers who deserted. Vidal writes apologizing for error made during Diaz' absence. Vidal sends Lipan to San Carlos with escort. Sacrificing these men for justice leaves severe shortage of soldiers. Diaz takes detachment to Bahia to investigate large Indian influx. (M. Dannemiller, September 1988)

Concerns several campaigns and Diaz duty to have troops armed and mounted to be dispatched on receipt of orders. Includes introductions to monthly reports on developments and conditions of company. Diaz requests licenses for soldiers being discharged. Diaz acknowledges receipt of royal order to be placed in province archives concerning salaries of governors coming from or returning to Spain. Relates visit of conde to Laredo during which command and 914 pesos were turned over to him. Concerns passing of command to Echeagaray. Zerna neglected to submit to him archive of Superior orders. Includes list of necessary items for administering sacraments. Diaz' illness delays March. Conde instructs Diaz regarding peaceful relations with Lipanes and punishments for treacherous Indians. Sends 40 men to Rio Grande leaving Segovia imprisoned. Receives letter confirming San Maxent's position during governor's absence. (M. Dannemiller, September 1988)

Descriptions and outcomes of several campaigns. Letters acknowledge receipt and completion of orders. Includes introductions to monthly reports on developments and conditions of company. Contains drawing of barracks to be built upon approval. Diaz says has 42 Morillos of willow if lumber can't be supplied. Requests permission to reward 3 soldiers for Superior service. Contains certified count of ears and genitals presented to Castro. Five Indians from Sax' Rancheria caught, one killed with help of friendly Indians. Mules and property of these Indians seized and sent with Rodriguez to Castro. Diaz writes conde thanking him for leaving him in charge of political and military matters during his absence. Describes mission to Aguaverde. Perez says company doesnot have necessary items to administer holy sacraments. Requests funds for candles and wine. Reports three soldiers incapable of completing service. Concerns transfer of Indian prisoner. Concerns 16 pacified Indians in Palmas. Arocha requests transfer to Texas. Diaz receives notice of large influx of Indians to Bejar, responds by sending 60 men. Relates incident in which Indians stole 6 horses, fled when horses were retrieved and returned to Flores' ranch killing two people and burning the huts, corrals and horses within. (M. Summary
A Series of letters primarily from Lacomba to Ugalde but also from others concerning matters affecting the tercera compania record and invalid status of Paredes and Buedo, requests to leave the company for a meeting, requests to fill vacancies, transfer of money to Ugalde, inquiries into arrival and late arrival of documents, clemency for 2 deserters, unfounded rumors of Indian attacks, the number of horses and mules at his disposal, Ugaldes disposition to expel all those who seek retirement before an imminent campaign, the difficulty in conducting a census among a hostile Indian population, Puga's desire to have his two sons serve in the adjoining companies, a dubious Tale of a Lipanes Indian attack told to him, reports of armament inventory, adverse affect of Weather on agricultural production in his area, prosecution of deserters, orders permitting the virrey special powers, use of a civilian at a military outpost in a mission, debts owed among the troops, capture of two Indians and transfer to Ugalde, conflict between two soldiers that had been quelled, promotions of Errera, Soto, and Cossio and the resulting vacancies and salary raises. Summary
Diarios de novedades (1791, 1792, part 0f 1793) from segunda and tercera companias in which significant occurrences relating to Indians recorded, some months without; Diaz de Bustamante of tercera compania includes more detail of administration and organization than other authors, including San Maxent of segunda compania, but provides succinct Margin notes stating whether contact with Indians occurred that month. Diaz de Bustamante's detail concerns Messages sent regarding Indians, men and horses dispatched to investigate situations or to fight, number of Indians, soldiers killed, where, by whom, soldiers dispatched to purchase food and other supplies, granting of licencias, also several exposiciones describing military conflict with Indians (folios 389-392); Estados de fuerza of both companias, number of individuals in each post, where located in, special assignments or missions involved in.
