Summary
Testimony is taken from an Indian woman who was present during the attack on the Rancho de Juan Mateo. She describes the conflict, but is unable to provide conclusive evidence on the tribal identity of the hostiles. Testimony is then taken from the captain who arrived to provide help. He made an effort to track down the attackers, but with little success. The Owner of the ranch asserts that he killed one of the attackers, but the body cannot be found - he presumes it was carried off by the other indios Enemigos. (C. Needham) (1975)
