Summary
Documents between governor, viceroy and religious officials regarding orders given that no soldier can spend night outside his presidio. Missionary personnel question decisions as they have to spend nights in Indian rancherias while ministering; military escort has to do same. Governor stresses custom to be dangerous as soldiers may commit aggressive acts against Indians and jeopardize peace in area. (A. Dell'acqua, may 1988)
