Folios 129-137 provide history of issue, citing reales Ordenes, decretos, etc. Virrey decrees 3-21-1791 that officials to be officers Merino and Matamoros died prior to re-incorporation, should widows receive compensation? To which Monte Pio should officers holding posts of both military and real hacienda make 'descuentos'? also, what to do in case of death of Garrido y Duran, who received two year 'licencia' to visit Spain but is collecting half salary. Francisco Xavier Goni purchased ship (San Judas Fadeo) in the canaries and sailed for Havanna then Ostiones with load and passengers. After leaving Havana ship sank. Only few crew lived and told what happened. Documents verify discovery of wreckage parts and auction of same. Ff.131 appears to quote laws concerning finding of unclaimed objects. Ship's Matricula, ff. 155-156. Wages paid for unearthing of wreck, ff.111-114. Possible document of boat purchase by Goni, ff.162-163. Steal some of the wreckage from beach and were killed. Request made for money for Goni's widow, Maria Hernandez Goni. Ff.204 contains verification of the Goni's marriage, names their parents. (S. Langmack September 1989)

Numeros 5-7 are collection of unrelated letters, Memorias, etc, dealing with military issues and often incompletely presented; in 5 and 6 (each one folio in length), complaints lodged against certain individuals; numero 7 includes soldier's request for invalid status, 'noticias' from Alferez concerning company accounts, poor condition of roads, other vague issues, also discussion of military widow's investments; numero 8 (Approximately folios 308-345) includes discussion of payment of salaries, other expenses, owed to captain Saint Maxent, as well as whether 'ajuste' of his salary merited; king orders payment and 'ajuste.' Numero 15 concerns battle between Piquete of soldiers and Camotero Indians; soldiers attempt to capture Camoteros, who resist with bow and arrow, killing 2 horses and a soldier; soldiers kill 2 Indians; find 2 Canoas, which governor decides they should keep, as soldiers need to cross River often; fiscal reminds governor that one-quarter of value of confiscated goods owed; governor responds saying Canoas do not appear Indian-made, besides are not serviceable, believes they are from shipwrecked 'san Judas Fadeo', wine and aguardiente also found, but governor argues it is weak and of little value. In 16, Bocio, widow of late governor, requests monthly pension of 20 reales; matter discussed among fiscales, approved. Numero 17 includes accounts of expenditures incurred while transporting Collera of Meco Indians to Mexico City; money from various sources; terms of some money lent discussed among fiscales. In 18, Lasaga notes that expenditures approved originally by predecessor, but that he too will approve them. (L. Kerr, June 1989)

Index of letters about civil and military administration, indexes contain brief descriptions of duties carried out in Provincias Internas de oriente, I.e. licences, campaigns, appointments, Indian affairs, military supplies, horse stealing, travels etc. (M.
