Letters to viceroy concerning public works. Ff.176-181 concern need to build new Calzada nearer to point of Tolotlan to replace old one that was impassable for carriages. Ff.182-185 concern need for repair considerable deterioration on Punto de Animas. Ff. 186-188 concern need for restoration on archbishop's Palace in Tacubaya, specifically water supply (some question of purity). F.189 concerns scarcity of water in Huamantla. Ff. 190-194 concern toll on vehicles traveling through Cuebas (list of costs for various types of carriages) to fund work on road. Ff.195-203 concern annual cleaning of aqueduct at Chalco; capital invested by various duenos to fund public works, interest rates. (A. Dean, September 1989)

Summary
F.134 concerns levying 5-peso yearly tax on carriage owners to cover cost of grading roads. Response that such tax wouldn't raise enough, should resort to measures such as zevada. ff.136-139 concerns failure of water supply to convent Balvanera (1800). Ff.140-155 concern Vega's objection to grading done on streets around his property. (it seems he contracted work, but wasn't pleased with result; refuses to pay.) F.146 is accounts of cost of materials, labor for waterpipes, grading. (A. Dean, September 1989)

Summary
Ff.117-119 concern Maria Lopez' request that her Brother Pedro inherit position as guard of aqueduct of Guadalupe, formerly held by her Husband Jose Arellano, now deceased (her signed letter to viceroy included, 1809). Ff.120-121, letter from Bentura Arellano (Father of Jose) asking that his other son Gabriel be given same job; apparently granted (1770). Another letter from 1809 states that Pedro was appointed, then fired for poor service, and replaced by Huerta. Ff.128-130 unrelated, concern putting up guard rails along sidewalk in Mexico City to keep carriages from running over pedestrians. (A. Dean, September 1989)

Summary
Correspondence is of administrative and fiscal nature, expenditures, salaries, appointments, recruitment and health problems; ship construction and repair, continuation from previous folios of problems (with keel) and building of launch and paquetbot; supplies for repairing warehouse in comisaria. Cargos and itineraries for Goleta Sonora, paquetbots San Carlos and el Principe (San Antonio). Ff. 311-313 announce arrival of Goleta Sonora, transporting pigs and servants for Areche, explaining delay due to bad Weather and shortage of food supplies. Request to Bucareli and approval by him for extra funds to cover necessary expenses incurred by personnel of the Sonora. (J. M. Johnson, October 1988)
