As required by viceroy, Barri submits accounts. Sent on Goleta Sonora. Details provided on contributors to final report which addresses problem of losses to royal treasury due to careless control of metals in province. expediente contains copy of Galvez' 1768 instructions and subsequent ordinances for control and reporting methods. Barri discusses difficulties of cooperation and trust of his subordinates. Viceroy orders him to Mexico for review and removes him from post while audit in progress. Barri claims innocence, poverty; complains of hardship of post, difficulty and cost of travel to Mexico. (j.m.johnson, June 1989)

Ff. 79-82 concern response of Gutierrez to Barri's request for submitting his past accounts for audit. Former cannot locate them and informed that until accuracy verified he must provide security bond. Viceroy determines that one-half of Gutierrez' requests necessary supplies for warehouse in department, including weapons, clothes, sewing materials. Concerns regulations for transporting medicine, food from San Blas to Acapulco. Notifications of unloading of goods in San Blas and Acapulco. Fage, Arrillaga propose alterations to ships in order to be able to transport more wood to California. Petition rejected. Fage, Arrillaga petition for wood to take to San Blas for repair of presidios. (R. Gomez, October 1989).
