Conde de San Pedro de Alamos, Husband or Marquesa de San Miguel de Aguayo, desires to move wife's sheep to dry bed of Laguna San Pedro until rains arrive. Unfortunately, 15 man escort from Gallo presidio unsufficient to protect sheepherders, etc. from attacks of rebel Indians. Petition before the royal Audiencia of Mexico by the Jesuit procurador of California that jurisdictions be restrained from charging illegal fees for the Passage of sheep from a hacienda owned by the order, also requests that sheperds be allowed to bear arms. Precedents considered and opinions offered by various members of the audiencias. Retroactivity denied but civil jurisdictions in California ordered to cease illegal levy under penalty of fine. (D.
