Relates incidents of several renegade Tarumar groups attacks on pueblos and the aftermath. Lists and discusses main causes of disquiet in the pueblos- due mainly. Padre Glandorff explains to padre Andres Xavier Garcia that padre Cristobal Lauria is being unfairly treated by being moved from Saguaripa to the Guasjaraca mission and suggests a letter to Rome to ask aid for Lauria. (R. Davis) (78)

Padre Lauria defends his administration of mission in letter to provincial padre Andres Javier Garcia, and claims padres Roldan and Ballauta are working against him, especially mentions issue of using native languages for religious teaching. Excellent letter concerning vicious personal feud between padres Ortiz and Garcia. Ortiz accused Garcia of treating Indians too harshly, working them so hard they didn't have time to cultivate their own Milpas, beating them for the slightest infractions. Yaqui leaders corroborate Ortiz' charges. According to una coyota in Torim, Garcia beat the temastian so brutally he died 6 months later. Garcia accuses Ortiz of attacking him between Torim and Bacum and of being and of being a drunk. Arriola believes Ortiz is insane. Both missionaries use Yaquis to carry out feud. (T. Ortiz rants, raves about fellow Jesuits responsible for attempting to remove him from his mission. Incredible language- calls one of his enemies un pedazo de mierda. also, accuses them of being mulatos and Lobos. One of reasons for his removal is his inability to learn Yaqui. (T. Sheridan) (1979)
