Juan Gonzalez de Burgos is Charged with owing 1,393 from his term as admn. de Tabacos, Polvora, y Naipes. His fiadores pull out, one by one, leaving him to come up with the money. Given are accounts for the Renta for 1800-1802. Gives a good idea of how the Renta was controlled. (P. Hayes) (1977)

Testimony concerning a large gathering (over 40) of Yaquis and Spaniards of both sexes in los yaquez, a Barrio of Rayo. Drinking and gambling were taking place. It is noted that such occurrences are continuous in this Barrio. The Indian governor and other officials were involved. (R. Perez) (1977)

Beitia, an indio, and Figueroa, a Negro, went to a dance at the house of Primero. Figueroa was dancing with Primero's Sister (Mestiza) when Irineo Primero (Santiago's Brother) told him to stop that he didn't want his Sister dancing with a Negro. A fight ensued resulting in Beitia being stabbed by Santiago. Santiago is remanded to military jurisdiction for punishment. (R. Perez) (1977)

An order concerning Indian pueblos covering the following topics- pueblos in existence more than 10 years must give up the ancient practice (doesn't apply to those Younger than 10 years); that Indians in these pueblos have the same rights as Espanoles; that professional gamblers and venders of liquor are Barred from Indian pueblos; access to adjoining lands is protected; and that all citizens (except the officials) are obligated to work this land. Various Parral officials, including capitan comandante de milicias Nicolas de Bustamante, complain about escandolos publicos and gente ociosa in Parral and prohibit public congregations in the Side streets (vendimias), where pecados between men and women frequently occur, as well as fandangos in private homes without a license, juegos de naipes, etc. All gente ociosas, Sin destino are to be arrested and put to work in mines. juegos de pelota, and firing arms after dark also forbidden. Related document, also by Bustamante (2/23/1787) states that no vecinos or sirvientes can leave their pueblos, haciendas or Ranchos without written permission of alcalde o de el Senor Cura o de el respectivo dueno de hacienda o rancho.
