Summary
Series of documents dealing with a trial against capitan Guerra, accused of cowardice. Describes his surrender to Insurgentes. Prior to sentencing guerra takes asylum in a church. Judge Zozaya uses royal decree of October 7, 1775 to make extradition. Zozaya made to swear to priest that guerra will be returned to church alive. Guerra found guilty of cowardice, sentenced to remain 10 years in a castle with no military privileges. Sentence considered by Arredondo because of the military merits of guerra's sons, the sentence is changed to house arrest. (D. Bautista March, 1990).

Summary
Letter ordering the reporting of troop strength on the first day of each month, all points to send this information to comandante general except for Laredo and Villas who will send them directly to Monterrey, also the establishment of daily diaries of occurrences; includes two documents one entitled compania and the other tronco de caballada neither of which has been filled out; document titled milicias provinciales del Nuevo Santander which includes information on uniform supply, riding gear; lette stating that while the real erario is away and captains are not on active duty they should not receive a salary since they are men of means, Arredondo is to decide what the troops are in need of; document stating troop strength and destination for third fourth and fifth companies of Nuevo Santander; letter analyzing the numbers in last document regarding horses, weapons etc, finds that a high percentage of troops are virtually useless since they have neither arms or horses, recommendation that abov mentioned should leave the militia and the saving of money associated with the decrease of total salary disbursed should be used to better equip existing troops, possibility of requesting arms from settlers for use by militia and troops. Concerns letters reporting on Apaches' activities around the provinces. Apaches are said to be destroying everything without punishment. Concerns Series of reports in which military officials detail how Apaches and other Indians are attacking, killing and stealing horses from haciendas belonging to local owners. Indians have committed crimes and left unpunished, some government officials feel that the provinces will colapse if the same situation continues. Stinging response to Mendoza's suggestions; notes problems that will grow out of stationing men in Chihuahua city; Apache infested areas; possible benefit of presidio transfer to Santa Clara; limited value of Taraumares as auxiliaries (whom he calls a nation of cowards); Mendoza's administration of civil government, Indian affairs is sharply criticized; his failure to discipline Indians; use of forced labor; and lack of mission schools are offered as examples of Mendoza's incompetence.
