Concerns Medina taking over responsibility of arms shipment for Grimarest because of problems of negligence, contradiction of orders and tertian fever; Grimarest writes letter in defense mentioning his deeds. Discussion of goal of capturing Chiquito capitan who escaped along with his family and other Indians; concerns investigation of escape and interview of guards; describes attempts to follow fugitives; description of escape, death of soldier and men involved; suggests freeing jailed sentinels and need to not trust Chiquito capitan. Summary
Lengthy document about removal of Ugalde from governorship of Coaguila by Caballero de Croix. Ugalde complains that without being notified of reasons for his removal he was sent to Mexico to wait decision of king; his salary was cancelled as well. He states needing money and having to sell his jewels to support himself. He requests title of brigadier and another position in New Spain or in Peru. He includes a relacion of his military background. Description of military career of his paternal and maternal relatives. Description of his military career in Europe, Africa, and America. He gives a detailed account of his military campaigns against the Apaches. Description of battles, number of soldiers involved, number of Indians killed, captured, and horses, cattle and weapons recovered from the Indians. Ugalde also includes many letters sent to him by various people congratulating him for pacifying the area. Other letters deal with king's decision to appoint Ugalde as comandante de Armas, and to pay back his salary. (J. Tapia, March, 1988)

Summary
Contains several testimonies verifing Serna's serious illness and possible inability to command. Due to illness, Echeagaray given command. Echeagaray sends sets of letters to Castro for which never received response from Serna. Complains of sernas rudeness, lack of judgement, incompatibility. says he neglected duties, does not rule with efficiency expected from a commander and has not requested permission for many activities. Tells Castro that Servin can stay with his company. Relates difficulties since Bustamente gave him command due to fact that Serna refuses to turn over Archivo. says serna@s account are incorrect and irregular. Contains lists of expenses and consumption of Polvora and munitions put together by guerra. Echeagaray says Serna is incompetent and owes company 3,000 pesos. (M. Dannemiller, October 1988)

Lacomba writes Castro to confirm return of Ten soldiers to company as instructed. Relates status of company and company finances. Indicates need for money and horses. Requests instructions regarding transportation of company supplies and treatment of Lipanes. Concerns an order by Castro passed on to captain in Rio Grande allowing them to purchase supplies not available in Nuevo Santander and requests departure date for said mission. Later document explains that not enough available soldiers to begin trip on date sent by conde. Asks Castro to settle dispute with Cayetano regarding 34 mules chartered for mission. Acknowledges receipt of orders for company discipline. Bustamente recognized as captain of company upon arrival in Laredo. Passed on orders to him. (M. Dannemiller, September 1988)

Diaz de Bustamante's detail concerns Messages sent regarding Indians, men and horses dispatched to investigate situations or to fight, number of Indians, soldiers killed, where, by whom, soldiers dispatched to purchase food and other supplies, granting of licencias, also several exposiciones describing military conflict with Indians (folios 389-392); Estados de fuerza of both companias, number of individuals in each post, where located in, special assignments or missions involved in.
