Ugarte says ruin for provincias is almost certain if not under to control of single commandante general and questions division ordered by viceroy. Relates events pertaining to previous, transferred and current secretaries and troop inspectors for comandancia. Asks permission to hire another secretary. Relates accomplishments of campaigns even with loss of troops taken by Ugalde. Includes data of all enemy deaths since area controlled of in 1786. (M. Dannemiller, April 1988)

Summary
Two lists of Apaches de Paz at Bacoachi. One gives the name of the Head of the household with the age, sex and relation of others in the family and then totals for men, women, boys and girls. 126 Apaches de Paz at Bacoachi. The 2nd list shows mortality among the Apaches de Paz since December 3, 1786. Again names, and age and sex breakdown are given but in addition the deaths are divided into categories of violent and natural. There were 41 deaths in the 2 year period. Letters between Cavildo de Horcasitas, governor of Santander, and viceroy in reference to attacks suffered by region from different Indian groups killing many inhabitants, stealing agricultural products, horses, cattle and other goods including clothing. Plans by governor to attack groups; frustration due to impossibility to find culprits as many groups have requested and live under peace, but do damage under guise of peaceful coexistance. Viceroy orders formation of companias volantes and doubling personnel in established ones to defeat, reduce or exterminate Indian groups if conditions continue. (A. Dell'acqua, April 1988)

Summary
Documents deal with account of battle in San Miguel against Lipanes; discussion that account is greatly exaggerated with respect to number of Indians killed as well as number of weapons, horses, and other things taken from Indians. Castro orders official investigation of battle; Tovar as well as many soldiers give detailed account of condition of horses, etc. Mention that Tovar is not at fault for he wrote account according to accounts of his soldiers. Viceroy states there is no reason for punishing Tovar. (J. Tapia, March, 1988).
