Two letters from Escandon to virrey informing him of the destruction caused by the rain and requesting 12,000 pesos to buy 3,500 fanegas de maiz to cover the needs of the population. The other letter is to inform him of the progess of the new colony, the pacification of Indians, the establishment of missions, and the discovery of mines. The letters that Escandon is sending the virrey are analized by marques de Altamira and he gives suggestions to virrey. Escandon gives an order to stop a rebel Indian, apostata guardado. (D. Summary
Escandon sends virrey detailed information about the devastation caused by the rains. Escandon sends a capitan to receive supplies the virrey wants to give. Also Escandon requests military promotions for those who worked hard in the disaster. In another letter Escandon describes actions taken by capitan Barverena in the capture of rebel Indians; auditor Altamira makes comments on the letters of Escandon suggesting to the virrey certain actions to take in the new colony. Details geography of area around San Francisco and Santa Clara mission, especially natural resources. Lists of numbers of officers and craftsmen at four Principal California presidios, supply escorts, real reglamentos pertaining to details of presidio construction and tackle for cavalry companies. Ff. 354-356 is list of salaries and numbers of officers, craftsmen, and rations for presidios crews and ships, including Actual costs vs. Those alloted by missionaries, income from tobacco and other crops, purchase and distribution of mules, horses, and supplies, shipping, tackle for soldiers and settlers. Notes governor of California Barri's request 30 Spaniards to serve as soldiers, establish settlements, 100 Indians from Rios Sinaloa, Fuerte, Mayo to work mines. Magistrates 3 rivers instructed to persuade, but not force, Indians to migrate to California. States many Indians Rios Sinaloa, Fuerte lost fields, cattle to flood last October, may be induced to migrate to obtain new land. (T. Sheridan, 1976)

Summary
Resume of Sastre's communiques concerning Sonora, Sinaloa in 1772. Notes reduccion of Seris at Pitic, where they're given daily rations until they can grow their own food. Suaquis, also identified as Pimas Baxos, rebuilding their community. Some unrest among Pimas Altos. Discusses Gil's attempts to establish mission for Tiburones at Carrizal and subsequent murder. General of Tiburones kills two culprits and arrests Ysqui, the reo principal, who is handed over to Spaniards. Recommends that Tiburones by Voluntarily moved to another mission site. Proposal to split royal treasury, now at Alamos, between Ures, rasario. Inhabitant of areas along Yaquis, Mayo rivers excused from paying tribute due to destructive flooding. Discusses Cieneguilla placers. Notes increasing Apache hostilities. Vildosola scouts Sierra de Chiricagui, where Apaches gather Mescal, su Principal alimento.
