Ugarte y Loyola submits detailed informe regarding criminals accused of treason and means to contain rebellious Indian nations. Tabular listing (f.50) of number of prisoners (including degrees of imprisonment, number of those assigned work, and number of deaths by sickness) accused of treason and other crimes. Notes existence of domestic enemy Allied with Apache nation who serve as spies. Sites examples of collaboration of these enemies with Indian enemies. Ugarte y Loyola informes Galvez of resolutions passed to contain rebellious Apache and Taraumara tribes. Instructions for Borica and Diaz in their visit to Indian communities for inspection (J. Several letters from Garcia Alexo for virrey informing him of the need to decrease the size of military and avoid the excessive payments. Relacion of several Indians who want amnesty to live in pueblo mesquital. Relacion contains names and how many are with their families. Letter from the governor of Sonora to the virrey informing him of the happiness of the americans when they heard the king's declaration. Garcia Alexo reports that the rebels who caused the disturbance in Bavispe have been identified and suggests virrey recognize the patriotic behavior of Evangelista Barrios, chief of the Opatas. Letter from the directors of tabaco y polvora to the virrey informing him of the quantities of tobacco sent to those provincias. (D. Bautista, July 1990)

Letters from Falco to comandante general informing him of rebellion and misconduct that took place in Bavispe naming Falco suggests comandante send prisoners to Chihuahua; letters from Garcia to virrey informing him that provincias are in peace. Letter from general of Opata nation for comandante informing him that his people have nothing to do with rebellion in Bavispe; letter from the realista to virrey informing him of public fight between Falco and Paula that is affecting all the presidios, saying that the Gachupines are fighting for the money; Garcia suggests virrey send a military officer to Chihuahua; copy of letter from Melgares to Garcia informing him of movements of united states against some places on the coast. Summary
Series of letters from Arredondo to viceroy. Notes reception of news that rebels have captured Acapulco. Mostly concern peace treaty concluded with Tahuacanos of eastern Texas. Arredondo suggests that treaties should be signed with other groups, especially Comanches and Lipanes, in the interest of a more favorable economic climate. Notes that Indians arrived at peace talks with cheap gifts of baskets and reed sieves, reflecting poverty of Indians in area. Arredondo petitions for greater quotas of tobacco and beef for Texas for distribution among Indians as incentive for keeping peace. (A. Tukey, March 1989)
