Fueros reports on status of placer mining operations and problems caused by Indian depredations. Draft responses from viceroy(?) Intermingled with letters. Discusses theft of mules and horses, problems with transporting supplies, military administrative affairs, problems Indian attacks causing for workers at placers, diminishing returns from placers. Series of declarations and report by Fueros recounting details of Indian attack on Mule train carrying food supplies. In draft letter problems Indians causing for comerciantes and workers noted and more men sent to help in defense. arrieros Mexicanos mentioned. (S. Fiederlein, 5-5-87)

Summary
Documents report Apaches killed Pimas near Tucson, taking captives and horses; Apaches exchange captives in Corodeguachi, one of them a sargeant who reports of future raids by Apaches. Soldiers attack Apaches killing several. Apaches attack merchant near Cananea destroying mining tools, and they also steal horses in reveicu; Apaches kill friendly Indians in Bac, and killed other people in Cumpas. Seris and Pimas kill people in Santa Barbara, Sauce, and in Pitic they kill friendly Indians. Troops dispatched to Buenavista and San Joseph to protect area. Soldiers attack Seris and Pimas in Sauce killing several Indians. Pineda states soldiers are in continous movements but since there are so many places where the Indians come from, impossible to search for all of them. (J. Tapia, may, 1988)

Summary
Expediente, accompanied by cover sheet, concerning Indian relations between Spaniards and friendly Indian groups, in spite of minor incidents quickly corrected by Indians; report of military campaign from Santa Fe to El Paso; treatment of Apache prisoners; alliance between Spaniards and Comanches against Apaches; presence of two Panana Indians in Ecueracapa's company; orders from Ugarte to Concha to send all Apache prisoners to Chihuahua, and Concha's responses to these orders; mention of Apaches' use of all people, regardless of age or sex, for fighting. Ff. 257-259 are detailed tables of accounts of money and supplies given to Comanches, Yutas, Navajos, and other friendly groups of Indians from April 1786-September 1787. Supplies, tobacco, military supplies for Indian auxiliaries, gifts to Indian leaders, shoes, and hats. Mention of gift of 500 horses and 30 mules to Indian auxiliaries. Ff. 261-276 is another Series of very detailed tables of accounts, including purchase of previously mentioned horses, allocation of 200 carbines, also for Indian auxiliaries, and tables relating distribution of these carbines and related supplies; ff. 267-27 is an account of all money spent for Indians in 1787. Tables are followed by Series of correspondence between various officials concerning funds for these expenses for 1789-1790. Includes a table (f. 284) of company strengths of regular military and Indian auxiliaries throughout Nueva Mexico, June 1788, and a list of specific items needed for Indians, June 1788. (W. Expediente, consisting of an informe written by Concha and Troncoso for Ugarte concerning peaceful relations with Indians of Comanches; detailed description of commercial interaction between Comanches and Spaniards; isolated incidents of horse raiding by Young Comanches and Parauanarimuco's actions to correct the crime; joint military expeditions against Apaches; relations between Spaniards and Yupes and Yamparicas; horse raiding between Yutas and Comanches, and Spanish role as mediators in dispute; raids against Pueblo groups by Yutas; leader of Yuta raids named Muchi and efforts of Yutas to bring Muchi to justice; relations between Spaniards and Navajos; conditions of release of Antonio el Pinto from Spanish captivity total breakdown of relations between Navajos and Apaches; reception of a Panana Indian sent to learn of Spanish customs and culture. Second part of informe is a journal of Troncoso's securing Antonio's release; visits to Navajo territory under Concha's orders to observe Navajos and assess their peaceful status; gifts of clothing and tobacco exchanged between Troncoso and Navajos; friendly attitude of Navajos; description of Navajo house structure; description of Navajo foods; discussions between Carlos, Antonio, and Troncoso of treaty between Spaniards and Navajos; commerce between Navajos and Spaniards; relations between Navajos and Apaches; discussion of religious beliefs between Troncoso and Navajos; description of Navajo clothing and ornaments.
