A letter concerning the New Mexico missions the costs of the annual stipend paid to the missionaries, and the declining Indian population. Croix argued that the continued payment of the sinodo did not serve much of a purpose since the number of Indians was declining, especially from a recent smallpox epidemic. (Robert H. Jackson) (1980)
