Summary
The governor receives notice from the king of the birth of a prince, and an order to announce it to all of the king's vassals in Nueva Mexico. The governor requires that all the residents have festival lights in their houses for three successive nights in demonstration of their gratitude for this event, under the penalty of a fine of four pesos for anyone who fails to comply. There is also to be a mass sung, in celebration of the occasion. He requires that the announcement and order be published in public places, so that no one can claim ignorance. (Lloyd Kendall) (1980)
