Summary
Excellent document. Campos answers his critics, especially padre Somoza, concerning his alleged refusal to supply gobernador Huidobro with 200 Pima auxiliaries for proposed invasion of Tiburon Island. Quotes Somoza (populo, July 31), who states that Huidobro's real purpose is to establish pearl fisheries of San Xavier, where mas de mil hombres are already working, rather than conquer Tiburones. Campos also claims that capitan Anza told him the Pima auxiliaries were no longer necessary. (T. Sheridan) (1978)
