1296 inhabitants divided among 3 pueblos. Inhabitants all 3 pueblos speak nogue (Opata), work in Spanish mines/ poblaciones area, manifest satisfactory religious devotion. People Santa Maria de Batuco ladinus, some of whom speak Spanish, well-dressed, industrious agriculturalists. People San Xavier de Batuco live at times in reales de Mina, returning to Pueblo at other times people Depatzi (Tepachi) miners, muy ladinos. Evidence rapid linguistic/religious/economic acculturation Opatas due to significant Spanish penetration Rio Moctezuma area.
