Salcedo's response to Casacalbo's letter regarding the Dunbar expedition. Salcedo is reluctant to provide a passport for Dunbar and questions the true motives of the expedition. Salcedo points out that the government has adequate knowledge of the geography of the area, and an expedition designed to clarify boundary between Louisiana and Spanish territory should go south to north, and not east to west, as Dunbar was doing.
