Summary
Anza received word from the Cocomaricopas of the Gila River that an expedition of four Spaniards and many Indians passed through their lands, asking if there were any other Spaniards nearby, they requested that their presence be made known, and then continued northward. Anza wonders if this might be part of the Monterey expedition. (R. Perez) (1977)

Summary
A diary of a journey from San Diego to San Francisco by land. Although the description is not particularly rich, the account is complete and the number of times natives were encountered warrants its notation. Geographical information is perhaps richest, but occasional mention is made of the Flora, fauna, and soil conditions. Population figures are useful, and some description of the Indians and their customs is given. (C. Briggs) (1975)

Summary
The diary recounts a sea voyage along the coast of California, leaving the bay of San Bernabe with a final destination of San Diego, although the diary ends before this point is reached. The customs, language, and technology of Indians, who came to the ship by canoe as well as those which were reached by landing parties are discussed. Diary of March from Pitic to Buenavista to look for water and enemies. Found water and 1 family of rebel Sibubapas in Nopalera canyon. Expedition to find the most favorable corridor through the Sierra Florida. Encountered 100 enemies (Apaches) with their families; entered into battle, wounding many. Caught another group with an infinite harvest of Mescal, they attacked, killing one Apache. Expedition hit by grave epidemic. During that time, Apaches raided San Xavier, stealing all 300 Head of livestock. (R. Perez) (1977)

Summary
Document is a copy of a letter by fr. Francisco Palou which contains excerpts from fr. Juan Crespi's diary of an expedition to the northern coasts. He speaks contact with natives who approach the boat. Description centers on stature and clothing of the natives, their activities around the Spanish ship, and the materials they brought for trading, and wished in return. They gave mostly wooden material and were primarily interested in large iron implements in exchange. (C. Briggs) (1975)

Crespi tells of his departure from the mission de la Santisima Concepcion in February 26, 1769, and of his arrival in the puerto de San Diego. Includes a brief description of native inhabitants and the suitability of one of the surrounding villages and its plain for settlement and cultivation. The heathens are poor- describes dress. Mentions that he was within 6 days journey of the missions of the California friars, but was unable to meet them.
